With 4500 independent pharmacies located throughout the United States, Good Neighbor Pharmacy is a retail cooperative supported by pharmaceutical distributor Amerisource/Bergen, ranked #10 on the Fortune 500. As independent pharmacies, Good Neighbor Pharmacy stores compete with the largest retail pharmacies in the country for patients while fighting the perception that chains are better.
The Solution
Strep + Flu
Strep + Flu gives these independent pharmacies a way to change how people perceive them. They don’t just dispense pills; they play a key role in people’s health. We custom-built a digital platform, StrepAndFlu.com, to teach consumers about the symptoms of strep throat and flu and the importance of early testing – all while avoiding the doctor’s office, urgent care or emergency room.
With Strep + Flu, we increased awareness of the benefits of using a local independent pharmacy. Additionally, we formed a partnership with BD, a global medical technology company, to subsidize the cost of quick-result strep throat and flu screening. This led to driving traffic to Good Neighbor Pharmacy stores to get a quick and reliable test for strep throat or flu.

The Outcome
High engagement, brand awareness and brand loyalty
With the success of this digital platform, Good Neighbor Pharmacy stores ordered additional tests to meet consumer demand. The program, which was piloted in Houston, was expanded to other markets. The pharmacies saw an influx of new customers with higher engagement, brand awareness and brand loyalty over time.
