Boasting 4,500 independent pharmacies across the United States, Good Neighbor Pharmacy is a retail cooperative backed by pharmaceutical distributor Amerisource/Bergen (#10 on the Fortune 500). As independents, their stores compete against large retail chains while battling the notion that bigger is always better.
The Solution
Strep + Flu
Strep + Flu empowers independent pharmacies to reshape public perception. They aren’t just dispensing medications—they’re integral to community health. We custom-built a digital platform, StrepAndFlu.com, to educate consumers about strep throat and flu symptoms and the importance of early testing, all while steering them away from the doctor’s office, urgent care, or emergency room.
This initiative boosted awareness of the benefits of choosing a local independent pharmacy. We also partnered with BD, a global medical technology company, to subsidize quick-result strep throat and flu screenings, driving more patients to Good Neighbor Pharmacy for fast, reliable testing.

The Outcome
High engagement, brand awareness and brand loyalty
With the success of this digital platform, Good Neighbor Pharmacy stores ordered additional tests to meet consumer demand. The program, which was piloted in Houston, was expanded to other markets. The pharmacies saw an influx of new customers with higher engagement, brand awareness and brand loyalty over time.
